Metro forming Portland - Milwaukie Light Rail Security Taskforce

Portland - Milwaukie Light Rail Security Taskforce Info

As part of the standardized SDEIS process of acquiring community input, Metro is forming a Safety and Security Taskforce for the Portland – Milwaukie LTR Phase II alignment. Operational traffic safety and security for riders, pedestrians, bikes and automobiles is a key aspect to the design of the light rail stations. Members of the communities where these stations are located often have keen insight into specific safety and security impacts and can provide valuable input for the project and design goals. This committee will run complimentary to the existing CAC committee, but be focused on operational safety and security.

Focus
Operational Safety and Security of SE Light Rail

When
Late September/ October 2007

Kickoff
Tour existing light rail systems with a focus on operational safety and security

Commitment
Meet 2 to 3 times as a committee to plan community meetings/ next steps.

The committee will provide recommendations and synthesize a plan for each light rail station on the project route by the end of the SDEIS process in the June/ July 2008 timeframe.

At the close of SDEIS, the committee may chose to continue work throughout the construction/implementation phase of the project

Let's make sure that everyone gets to the Station Planning session on October 11th, 6:00pm-8:30pm at Sellwood Middle School.

I can't find the good link on Metro's site to their PDF flyer about it.

I was at last night's meeting for the Stations from the Clinton through the Brooklyn neighborhoods. It sounded like people got a lot out of it and got a lot of input from it.
